Created by young people from: Delph Hill Youth Club, Bradford.
VOID ARTS visited Delph Hill for 9 months to work with three groups of young people to develop designs and paint a huge mural in their sports hall. The theme of the mural was UNITY and asked the question, "what unifies us, as people?" The three themes the groups decided on were MUSIC, FRIENDSHIP and SPORT. We looked at the artist Keith Haring for our inspiration and the young people initially spent time creating designs, until a finished image was chosen for each section of the wall. We then spent our remaining time enlarging the image and painting it on the wall. In addition to the image, each young person designed their own name in their own unique style, which they also drew and painted on the wall.
As part of achieving such a massive project, each young person received certification and The Lord Mayors Award.
